The Position:  Senior Accounting Manager

Job Summary:
  • Responsible for researching, maintaining and implementing accounting policies. 
  • Responsible for assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting and reporting.
  • Develops and maintains accounting system expertise, ensuring system upgrades are thoroughly tested. 
  • Evaluates effectiveness and efficiency of systems and processes and recommends enhancements as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Leads accounting and reporting research activities and prepares documentation supporting the company’s accounting position
  • Assesses the impact of new accounting standards and assist/lead the implementation of those standards
  • Responsible for approving monthly close entries and submitting forecasts
  • Manages the preparation of quarterly financial reports and analysis
  • Manage the preparation and completion of the annual Pension and 401K audits and ensure its submission to the Department of Labor
  • Develops and maintains accounting system expertise, ensuring all system upgrades are thoroughly tested
  • Evaluates effectiveness and efficiency of systems and processes and recommends enhancements as needed
  • Ensure compliance with assigned internal controls
  • Coordinate development and communication of department’s business resumption plan
  • Complete several special projects as assigned
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting required. CPA, CMA, MBA, Masters or similar required. Expert in IFRS accounting preferred.

Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of 7 years of prior Accounting or Finance experience including 1 year as an Accounting or Finance Supervisor and 2 years as an Accounting Manager or Supervisor.
Special Skill Requirement:
  • SAP and SAP/BPC (Business Objects Planning & Consolidation) preferred
  • IFRS accounting experience preferred
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others to ensure successful completion of assignments
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Expert in IFRS Accounting
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to tactfully communicate with all levels including executive leadership
  • Strong written skills to draft position papers for auditing purposes.

Summary Review Notes:
  • This position is in our Client’s Corporate Accounting Department and is a new role.  It requires someone to be highly flexible in terms of schedule due to ebbs and flows of the business.
  • This position requires someone with Project Management skills as they will be heading multiple projects and gathering data/information from many sources.
  • Collaboration is very important as there are no direct reports and they have to rely on others for information.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills as well as very good communication skills (someone that is the least bit hard to understand would not do well in this role).
  • Very important that candidate has IFRS (International Finance Reporting Standard) accounting experience.
  • SAP and Excel experience required - they use SAP to build reports as well as BPC (Bus Objects Planning & Consolidation)
  • This position requires the ability to write position papers following IFRS accounting rules as our auditors are asking us to write more of them
